Vikings shines through its staff
On December 12th 1979, a small single room licensed premise commenced trading as the Tuggeranong Valley Rugby Union and Amateur Sports Club Incorporated with 204 members, 5 staff members and 4 affiliated sporting groups. From these humble beginnings, the licensed Club has developed into the largest Licensed Rugby Union Club in the world and is known as The Vikings Group.
Today, the Vikings Group consists of five licensed premises - Vikings Erindale, Vikings Chisholm, Vikings Town Centre, Vikings Lanyon & Vikings Capital Golf Club. The Group also houses several first class sporting facilities including Viking Park, tennis courts, championship lawn bowls greens, a cricket oval and a Health and Fitness Centre - deservedly holding the reputation as the "Home of Amateur Sport in the Tuggeranong Valley".
A major part of the Vikings Group success is due to the staff achievements and their exceptional performance. The TVRU&ASC Gala Staff Awards serve to publicly acknowledge these employees who display loyalty, commitment and professionalism towards the Vikings organisation, its members and their guests. The gala dinner is unique to the ACT Club Industry and was held in July 2009 at the Vikings Groups' leading function facility, The Auditorium.
Laura Brook (Young Manager of the Year) and Melinda West (Employee of the Year) took out the two major awards on the evening.
