Seniors 2009/10 Presentation
The presentation wrap-up to the 2009-10 season for the Tuggeranong Seniors celebrated two premierships, the 2nd Grade One Day and Glenda Hall Women's, Minor Premierships in 1st and 3rd Grade, the Spirit of Cricket award from the ACTCA, but in main highlighted the outstanding individual performances from the season.
The award for Senior player of the season, presented by Patron Annette Ellis MP, was shared between REECE PARRY (2nd Grade), ADAM RITCHARD and MICHAEL WESCOMBE (both 1st Grade). Michael had earlier won ACT awards for Konica Player of the Series and Jetset Player of the year. LAURA WRIGHT won the Woman player of the year and Women's 1st grade.batting award with 276 runs at 33.4 average. Players Player was awarded to veteran bowler Evan Kellar who pulled out some good performances this season to get 1st grade bowling award, with 38 wickets, including 7/28 vs Ginninderra. Club Person of the Year was awarded to dedicated volunteer DANNI ROBERTSON. Most Grade wickets award went to Adam Ritchard with 40 wickets, while the best bowling average went to Tim Crome with 33 wickets at 12.94 average. MICHAEL WESCOMBE with 728 runs at 45.5 average won both the Scott Weight Memorial trophy for most grade runs, and the Michael Bevan trophy for best batting average. SEAN OSBORNE was rewarded for his safe pair of hands with the 'Most dismissals by a wicket-keeper award', with 34 catches and one stumping, with promising youngster MICHAEL WREN following with 16 dismissals.
Under 19 Player of the Year was awarded to SAM THORNTON and with two teams in the City & Suburban competition, 2nd & 6th Grade, Tuggeranong C&S Player of the Year went to Luke Thornton who scored 457 runs and took 39 wickets @ 8.79 average. First Grade batting award was won by Vinesh Bennett with 335 runs @ 67 average. Second Grade awards were won by Kevin Hogan with 400 runs@ 40 average and Reece Parry with 37 wickets @12.9 average. David Ashe scooped the Third Grade with 359 runs @ 39.9 average. EVAN BOUCHER who took 17 wickets, won the Captain's award in 4th Grade. In Fifth Grade, David HOITINK won the batting award with 239 runs and WILL THOMSON took 25 wickets @ 18.0 average. LIL REPPION with 370 runs and REBECCA KIDD with 15 wickets won the batting and bowling awards respectively for women's second grade.
Juniors 2009/10 Presentation
Tuggeranong Juniors presentation day celebrated the premiership won by team Under 13 /2 in Division 3, and the teams that were runners-up in U12 Div 2 and U16 Div 2. Team awards were presented for best Batting, Bowling, Most Improved and Coaches Awards, and special performance awards presented. Significant performances among the 22 presented included SEAN KIDDEY of U16/2 with 149 no, 326 aggregate and 12 catches and U15/1's SHAUN POTTER with 6/10. The winner of the Junior (U9-12) batting award was KIERAN REILLY with 220 run aggregate @ 73.3 average and a high score of 46. The Junior bowling award was won by ADAM SEARY with 15 wickets @ 4.33 and an economy rate of 2.1. The winner of the Senior (U13-18) batting award was LACHLAN MONGER with 222 run aggregate @ 55.5 average and a high score of 102 no.
The Senior bowling award was won by VICTORIA KING with 18 wickets @ 10.7 including a 5/7 haul, and an economy rate of 2.63. Victoria also won the Junior Woman Cricketer of The Year Award. Victoria was the Captain of the Tuggeranong U14/1 team in Division 2, represented the ACT in the U15s Women's National Championship in Melbourne in December, and made her debut this season in the Women's Premier League where she was able to gain experience against ACT players. The club is very proud of her achievements in the past season, particularly with her leadership, mentoring and support of other junior players as well as her individual results.
Coach of the Year was awarded to PETER MACARTHUR who coached both the U16/2 team which was a finalist, and the U14/1 team. Peter has a passion for contributing to the development of players and does not have children in either team. Clubperson of the Year was awarded to Brett Jones who has been an active volunteer for eight seasons, as Age Coordinator and team manager. Brett has also conducted Chisholm Club raffles for a number of years and took an active interest in proposals for drought proofing Chisholm oval. More recently he has been instrumental in ensuring that equipment that is replaced in kits, goes to good use, enabling kits to be distributed to local schools, including Chisholm, Gilmore and Covenant college and to indigenous groups in SW NSW.
