South Canberra Gymnastics Club
It's a great sport for kids
Gymnastics is a tremendous sport for children. It provides them with skills that will stand them in good stead for any future sporting or personal endeavour. Gymnastics provides children with basic motor skills and greatly enhances their co-ordination, balance, physical development and confidence. MOST OF ALL GYMNASTICS IS FUN!
Object
The S.C.G.C. was formed in 1979 with the object to promote and develop all forms of mens and womens gymnastics in the Tuggeranong Valley.
Location
The Club operates from its gym in Gartside Street, Erindale (adjacent to The Garden Centre).
Club Details
The Club provides classes for girls and boys from 18 months of age to adults Monday to Saturday. Both recreational and competitive classes are provided by full-qualified coaches on a ratio of about one coach to six to eight gymnasts. The gymnasts use all the standard gymnastic apparatus - vault, high bar, parallel bars, pommel, floor and rings for the boys and vault, bars, beam and floor for the girls and trampoline for all ages.
Daytime classes are provided for pre-school age children, while all other classes are conducted from 4.00pm onwards weekdays. Children with disabilities are also catered for.
Club gymnasts, who are selected to enter the competitive stream, compete for the Club at A.C.T. Championships and the appropriate levels become eligible for selection in the various A.C.T. teams to contest the Australian Titles.
We also cater for school groups either in the gym or at the school. The hall is available for hire eg. Judo, YMCA etc.
Operating Times
The gym office is open as follows: Monday to Friday 4.00pm - 6.30pm Saturday 9.00am - 1.00pm
